TPMS - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

I am also looking for new TPMS for my 2004 4Runner, Sports Edition, AWD.
The batteries have run low so I getting the blinking light. I am looking for current information regarding purchasing sensors on ebay or Amazon. My VIN calls for OEM part # 42607-35010. Does Kmveter's suggested set up, from above, work for those who's 4Runners call for the initial version model # pmv 1017 sensor? Does purchasing OEM part # 42607-06011, model # PMV107J continue to be a good solution.

Message - Good to know. So my fix would not work in this case. If so I would disable the stupid light and check my tires on a regular basis.

That's the way to go and never worry about them again.

Everything from '05 forward is supposed to have them by law is my understanding. When I bought new tires the shop told me I'd have to add them and I told the tech my truck never had any. He brought in the manager and I told him if he could find any indication I had them I'd buy them. He turned the key on, saw no TPMS light on the dash, look confused, gave me a look and told the tech to install my tires.

mine is 2006 and i just changed my TPMS ALL 5.... they usually last about 10 years, figured since i'm doin 2 might as well get them all done.

To be fair though, as it's been getting colder my 35's went from 35psi to about 30 in the rear and set the light in the mornings. Visually I couldn't tell that they were under by 5psi so it was nice to know; I probably would have noticed in a week or two when I checked the pressures anyways.

My light is on, and I've checked 4 tires but not the spare. How can I tell which tire is the issue, if all 5 tires are around 32 PSI? Only my passenger front tire was at 31, the other 3 were at 32.

I'll be checking the spare this evening.

I'm surprised my tpms is still working after 15 years. My rims look terrible now so I stopped cleaning it. Lol. When that time comes,. I might just replace the rim with steel rim.

Can anyone tell me exactly where the reset button is for the tpm system on a 2004 Toyota 4Runner limited V6 engine.
I looked on the dash and saw two reset buttons but the indication is one is for the odometer and distance and the other is for monitoring outside temperature, mpg etc.

There is no reset button for the TPMS, if your light is on one or more of your tires are low on air (the spare also has a sensor so check it as well) or the battery in one or more of your TPMS sensors is dead, unfortunately the battery is not replaceable, the sensor/s has to be replaced and then programmed.

I think I will take a look at the aftermarket replacement tpm systems.
I intend to replace the oem alloy wheels soon and get new regular tire valves and then think about purchasing a low cost tpm system.

The TPMS sensors have batteries which eventually fail. Short of disconnecting the TPMS system (search this forum for DIY), the only solution is to have a tire shop find out which sensors are dead and then replace them. I have a 2005 and I bought one of those units on Amazon that reprograms the TPMS for the new sensors.

I have a neighbor that works for "TIRE CITY" and when I am ready to order my new wheels, I'll ask him if they can supply those along with new sensors. Some years ago, I made the mistake of installing metal tire caps on the tires that were of a different metal and corrosion set in on the valve threads. I should have used plastic caps.
I got 15 years out of the sensors, so I believe I should replace all of them.

just replaced all 4 on my 4R...wasn't happy about the price lol but at least they should be good for a while.
