TPMS and New Rims

Good Afternoon guys,

I just purchased a set of four TRD rims (PTR20-35110-BK) that will be replacing the factory rims on my '17 TRD OR. My regular mechanic will be doing this for me on Monday. He asked me a question though, that I didn't have an answer for, so I'll ask here. Is there any difficulty or issues with swapping the original Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensors between rims? The way he talked, he made it sound like they were attached to the rims, but I always thought they were just attached by a locking nut around the valve stem.

Hopefully, it's an easy swap.

I had my original TPMS sensors swapped to my TRD wheels at Americas Tire (Discount). Seemed like it only took a min per wheel for the tech to do it. I was grateful they offered to do it for only $10. Saved me about $150 if I had used the new sensors I bought.

I called my local dealership and their parts guy said they 'had' to buy new ones,at $150. Nice to know you can replace them.

Good to know. After doing a little more digging around it was clear to me that they must be removable given their design.

you can absolutely move them to the new rims. They are attached to the valve stems .
