TPMS not working on the spare??

I recently bought a 2009 4runner. Yesterday I took down the spare tire and drove around 30 miles and came home.

I was expecting the tpms light to come on the dash. NO warning lights came on.

I have a metal tpms looking valve stem on the spare.

Do these 4runners have a tpms in the spare?

Something wrong with my system? I have warranty with the car so if something is not working properly I want to take it in to get fixed.

Thats weird, if i remember right i had to add air into my spare when my tpms light came on last year.

Yes it's very weird.

I drove around half the day and nothing happened.

If I remember right mine off it took it about a day or so to come , plus I think if you're parked within a close enough distance it will hook up . I took mine off to PC it ,came on next day .

Yeah I was parked close to the spare in my garage. But I run a bunch of errands throughout the day so I started the vehicle up a few times with the spare being at home.

I'll wait and see If it comes on today. I put the spare in the backyard so it doesn't hookup with the vehicle.

Yes I had mine off n the garage & I back up to the door & had the spare n there so it never came on till I dropped it off at the shop . Plus I know you know they each have batt. n each so if it was bad then it would go off !

what color are your fj wheels? Black, gunmetal?

I picked up a set of rims off a 2013 4runner trail. Thinking about getting them powder coated and putting them on my 4runner. Undecided...

Pc-d TE wheels

I went flat black same price 75$ per . The gloss was too too you know plus most of my trim I've plasti-d so think it looks closer to the flat look . Getting ready to vinyl the hood , found a guy here n Vegas pretty reasonable to do it . Its true Powder coat they do most of the chrome stuff around the valley .

Some times it takes awhile for the tpms to come on, it goes into a search mode for awhile before light will come on. Even when it does come on, every time you turn off vehicle and restart later, it might blink for awhile and come on or stay off, will come on later.

I have a second set of rims that I change over to at times and my system goes on confused mode as exspained above. Doesn't help when I park at home and the 2nd set is in the garage.

My first 04 runner new off the lot, had a bad computor monitor and keeped setting the light off. After the 3rd time of this within 1000 miles of owning this rig, the dealer just replaced the monitor in it.
