TPMS Push Button Bypass Switch

Hey everyone,

New to the forum and this is my first thread. I was looking for push button options to bypass the TPMS blinking light and keep and OEM look, but I wasn't finding anything. So, I contacted On Board Air and asked if they could mock something up like the picture attached, but for a Toyota push button switch that will fit a 4th gen.

To my amazement, they wrote back and said they are getting new stock in a couple weeks and will have some done and contact me when finished.

When I hear back, I'll post a reply to this thread with the finished product. Curious if others are interested.

Why use a switch? Just disable it for good.

^+1. Why even mess with turning it on/off. Just bypass it all together. Did mine in literally 5 min this past weekend.

I'm with the others, just do the mod and get it over with.

But for my curiosity .. how do you plan to wire this up so you can control the TPMS functionality? Or is this just so you can turn on/off the dash indicator light without actually disabling TPMS?

I was wondering the same, then i started thinking he may tap into the pink/blk wire at the TPMS sensor and at the switch take it directly to ground (as opposed to power like you would for lights). Just my thought. But do tell!! :wacko:

I can understand why a lot people would rather just bypass it all together, as it is easier. But a lot of people also won't keep their vehicles forever. If I were a customer that liked the tpms system and bought a t4r that had the tpms bypassed, I'd probably be a little upset that it wasn't functional. I'm a mechanic so I don't really care but I can see how being able to switch it back on can have its advantages

I intend to tap into the wiring to be able to turn the dash indicator light on/off. When/if I run steelies or some other off road wheels, I want a kill switch instead of the light blinking at me.

It's my DD, so I do like the feature and have replaced the sensors. I will also be selling in the next couple years for a 5th gen, so I want it to be fully functional at the same time.

Totally get that some just want to defeat it permanently and I considered that option, but chose to go this route instead and thought others might have the same thought. Anyway, I'll post once I have it hooked up and installed.

Does TPMS offer any other functionality other that the dash light blinking at you when it can't connect to the sensors or when it senses low tire pressure? That's all I'm trying to defeat with a switch. If it's tied into VSC or some other stabilization system, I'm not aware.

Here is the write up I am planning to follow to install the switch: TPMS light bypass switch. I'll run it next to the DAC button on the center console, since I'm not using either of the other buttons (yet).
