Figured I'd ask my boys in 5th 1st about this & gauge ideas , thoughts . So on son's 05 1 of sensors has gone bad do we know & btw they have 5 , by removing the 1 bad one & leave spare blank would ecu not be set off ? I know some would say f-it but this is my kid & want all bells , whistles possible in case of a low tire ! Right now I have it unplugged with light always on , just would feel better knowing it was working ! :toilet: flame away :whip2::blabla:

If the ECU supports 5, and it must if you have 5, then logic dictates you will not solve your problem.

But aside from all that, why go to so much trouble? You'll have to dismount/remount both tires just to steal a used sensor. Just buy one new one.

-Or, how far are you from new tires? You could just replace them all then. How old are they? I had 2 go bad at 6 yrs old.

Why don't you clear the bad one from the ECU using techstream and see what happens

Yes to this , however will need access to said techstream ! Been reading alot of older posts about it & difference between blinking & steady light . It was/is blinking indicating higher up chain of a failure idk ? Son is home for for Xmas vaca so gonna work on this !

Far as I know you have to put something when you register the sensors (i.e. if it takes 5 sensors you need to put 5 IDs), it doesn't like 0000000 so it'll look for whatever you program regardless.

Though you know I haven't tried duplicating IDs, I don't know if that would work (i.e. registering something like C88CD74 two times)

Wouldn't your question be more pertinent in 4th Gen?

Probably actually Gen Discussion ! But guys over here have experience with tpms so .... all of us have these, more of cover my bases deal !

Thx BWinc that's the snswer I was looking for !!! Wasn't sure if I started with 5 I could bump down so question answered :closed_2:!! And to even further F IT up :thumb3: when I went out today to plug tpms ecu back in to see where I should spend light came on blinked 5 times & cleared so much to do about diddlly !:amen::beer:

How old are his sensors? The light didn't come on for no reason.

DT has a thingy to test these with .... takes just minutes.

Yes sir you're probably right , I had unplugged the tpms ecu back in Aug. before he left for school , so the light would be on & he would say wtf ? And check tires which he did (amazing) ! Yep having it checked again today !
