Okay, so my TPMS light has been bothering me for a while now...I blamed it on the cold weather and when it warmed up the light went off.

Today I checked the tire pressure anyway and it's at like 28-29 (stock sz. tires) and it should be at 32... but the TPMS light is off? What the heck?

Is this normal? Does it allow a certain variance?

Dont forget to check the spare too. It is temp sensitive - for all you know the cold could have affected the batteries tripping the system.

Check your Tire Pressure...including the spare.

Cold weather will have lower reading.
Hot weather makes it expands therefore a higher reading.

Some members had their spare stolen & it triggered their TPMS

I think my system is faulty...cuz I took off my spare & left it at home, because I was running to the coin-opt pressure washer, so I can wash underneath.

The TPMS light never went on.

I believe so. My TPMS lights turn on at about 24 PSI. If you're near an air compressor, you can deflate a tire and check the threshold when the warning light is triggered.

Also, I vaguely remember reading somewhere that you can program the TPMS to trigger at whatever level you decide to set, but you need to have a diagnostic tool to access the on board computer.

the tpms light also only goes on after about 100 miles driven or over an hours worth of driving. some guys get a diiferent set of wheels & leave the stock set in the garage, if the light does go on during the day, it resets at night. ive done this for over 2 years, & the only time the light came on was when the air in the tires, which are in the garage was low.

I thought most of these were set up to occur when the tire is 27 psi or less. That equates to 15% underinflation which I believe is what most manufacturers are now stating they would guarantee. If they are close to this pressure (as mine are sometimes) they will drop when sitting out in the cold and then warm up as you drive which makes the light go off.

As mentioned before. Check your spare. Have the same problem when it gets cold. 9 times out of 10 its always the spare.

For every 10* F drop in temperature, you'll lose 1psi.

I inflate mine to 36-37psi and 40-44psi on the spare.

I think there is some confusion when people read your post because you wrote "... the light went off". (People think the warning light turned on, but actually, you meant the light "went away"). That's why people talk about checking the spare...
