Ok i have read most of the threads posted here and im still very very confused.
Can i get a simple explanation on how to disable the Traction control on my 02 runner. It bugs the hell outta me for example the other day i was driving to a friends house and saw a field that was a bit muddy because of the rain we just had and i wanted to have some fun. Now i go into the field and punch it and try and spin the back end out then the ticking started and the lights flashed and prevented me from having my 5 mins full of fun...

Please someone tell me on how i could just take it off for a little bit then put it back on for the road. There has to be a simple way.

The center diff lock button is the same as trac disable if you dont have a normal trac off button

Center diff only disable VSC, TRAC cannot be disabled without a modification.

so how does this work on a 2001 while in 2wd. My rig is lifted with 285 muds and on turns the traction kicks on with any drastic turning.

Before my wife and I bought the 2k Runner, I read a review on Edmunds and it said that the 2000 m/y had VSC standard. Is that right?

yes, the VSC is standard for all 3rd gen 4runners

sorry about that... bootown is right. it wasnt until the 2001 models that the vsc came standard.

Can someone explain to me the use of the 'Trac Off' Button that comes standard in the 01/02 models? It seems to turn itself back on after a few moments......why? what good is it intended to do?

Also if i uninstall the button and do the 'Andymod 2.0' & install a rocker on/off switch in its place will the trac remain OFF until i reengage the system? Also as i understand it the 'Andymod' does not disengage the ABS.....correct?

yes only the 2wd 4runners have that switch. And the TRAC/VSC systems were only on the 01-02's.

As far as why the switch does that or how it works.. read the manual.

And lastly, I would NOT do the andymod on a 2wd, just figure out how to work that Factory switch correctly. IIRC the ECU's on 2wd trucks are wired differently than the 4wd ECU's. Therefor the wire needed for the Andymod may be different.
