I've been trying to locate a creak / groan sound that occurs when I accelerate from a stop. On hard acceleration, it's not there noticeably, but in casual driving to and from work, it'll give me a creak at most every stoplight that I make a full stop at...
- I've replaced both driveshaft u-joints and they're installed correctly.
- I've taken off both upper and lower control arms in the rear and regreased the bushings (I've got duroflex bushings)
- I've removed both front and rear anti-sway bars.
- Panhard bar appears in good condition, but I do have poly bushings that I could install to eliminate that possibility.
- I've got Dobinson's springs and OME shocks in the rear.
- Front UCAs are JBA and I've regreased the bushings and ball joint.
- Front Lowers are 2 years old OEM Toyota.
- Sound is not there in cornering or on suspension flex. Jumping on the rear bumper doesn't reproduce the sound. Neither does shaking side-to-side.
-My wife says it's towards the rear, and I can't tell because I have a hearing impairment.
-Car is clean of any loose items or junk. Cargo area was emptied to help locate noise.
When It rains, it seems to be less often that the creak is there. A couple days after rain, it's at every stoplight. I can't tell if the noise of the rain is masking the sound or if it's temporarily lubricating something. I've tried spraying any moving joint with PB blaster, etc. just to see if anything temporarily solves it so I can repair or replace when it's located.
Anybody have any ideas? Rear Diff? Body Mounts?
