Tracking down an old FJ40

Even though it's not a 4R, I am considering trying to find a family vehicle from the mid-70s. It was a white FJ40, 1974. Registered to my family in North Carolina. Lost track of it when I left for the Air Force. I don't know VIN. Any ideas on where to start? Does Toyota maintain a database of original vehicle owners?

Without a VIN, that may be difficult. How long has it been since it was last in your family's possession? Without that VIN you could be wasting a ton of time sorting through white 1974 FJ40's only to find out (but I genuinely hope not) that your FJ40 was scrapped or exported ages ago.

Perhaps your DMV may have records of vehicles under your family's name that may have a VIN number? Look for any sort of documentation your family may have of it. I'm sure there may be some other ways, but this is just off the top of my head.

If you can track down any additional info, like a VIN from the insurance co. as mentioned above, take that info to ih8mud.com and ask around over there.
