This was discussed many times, but I couldn't find anything about disabling this TC without locking the central differential in v6 4x4 version. A lot of guys here and in yotatech are saying why switch it off, it's good safety feature. Yes, it is, but sometimes you need it off. Some guys like doing donuts and they need it off for this. I'm not mind doing some, but MAINLY I need it for easy off-road, when you are NOT blocking the differential and city driving. Yes, city driving. When you're living in a place with 4-5 month of snow winter, it's necessary feature to be able switch it off. With some snow (less then 1/2") on the road I can't start moving, TC blocking my engine and not letting me moving forward with 2WD, even with 4WD the same result. I can't block differential in this condition, its asphalt. In this condition Corolla and Camry with TC off doing better then 4Runner with TC. I remember my previous Montero, I turned it off and was on next traffic light 15-20 seconds before everyone else.
As far as I know (based on this and some other forums) some guys figured out how to do a switch on 3rd Gen. What about 4th Gen.? Did anyone figured out how to do it on 4th Gen.?

Sorry, can't help with switching it off but you're talking about VSC (Vehicle skid control) not ATRAC or TRAC (Traction Control) which is never off.

I'm talking about TC when I can spin my tires without braking them or holding the engine. Yes, VSC and TC are switching off when you blocking differential. I do not mind to have VSC (Vehicle Stability Control), but I want TC off. I'm a good driver with many years of experience and I can handle the vehicle in some situation without TC, but, anyway, I'd prefer to switch it on when I'm tired and handing back home or any other reason when I'm not in a condition of driving it like Ferrari.

check out the write up. The most simple way is to unplug the sensor on the brake cylinder for a temp. defeat. For those of you who like switching it off, you can do it like in the write up.

I think I've read those 19 pages in yotatech and there is description of doing it in 3rd Gen., but I do not remeber on which model they found how to do it 4WD or 2WD. Did I missed something about 4th Gen.?

By the way, has anyone in this forum done it for 4th Gen.?

Unplugging that sensor works great in the '05 models. I'm sure the Andy Mod works the same by breaking the circuit. You MUST turn off/re-start the vehicle after plugging it back in to re-activate the vsc/trac.

OK, I'll reread that thread again and will look what I can do with it. I want to think about a switch. Are you sure I have to restart the vehicle?
Does anyone with 2WD version checked how TC system is setup there and if it's possible to duplicate it in 4WD model?

Positive you have to restart to re-engage system.
Unplug sensor plug-xmas dash lights all come on--do some crazy wheeling (hopefully with no accidents)--then follow steps below.

1-turning off vehicle
2-re-install plug
3-restart vehicle (xmas lights all off)

Installing the switch and engaging it breaks the circuit (defeating) the safety systems.

I've been tempted to install it too. I'm sure I eventually will, but I've been too busy with other mods for now.

Oh, thanks... I thought I'm the only one who wants to disengage this system.
Too bad I have to restart the engine.

I do not mind to have VSC (Vehicle Stability Control), but I want TC off.

You mentioned in your first post that the engine was "blocked" - that's VSC. Compared to limiting a spinning wheel (TRAC), that's a real show stopper.

Disabling VSC has a HUGE effect compared to disabling TRAC.

I posted this a while ago, but you can also disable one of the Oxygen sensors on the exhaust. That will throw a CEL and disable the TRAC/VSC systems. When I had a oxygen sensor go, I could light up my tires easily until the sensor was replaced. And yes, you will have to restart the vehicle to regain the safety system after the sensor is plugged back in.
