Traction Control

I have an 02 SR5 3.4 V6 that is my first Toyota. Love everything about it. I am looking forward to snow as I live in the Northeast. My question would be is there any way to turn off my traction control? I used to have a VW that had a switch to do so, but as far as I know my 4runner does not. I ask this because I love fishtails and drifting. Once had an old Dodge truck that was the greatest for this. Any thoughts?

nope you got a 02 with all the bells and whistle's

Try a search for the "Andymod" which disables VSC, TRAC and ABS. Probably one of the more "controversial" differences between early model and late model 3rd generations unfortunately:AK47:

Googled the "Andymod" Great, now I know what I need to do. Thanks for the information. Now I wonder why it is called the "Andymod" Who is Andy? Thanks again.

No problem, I think Andy is the guy who originally found out what needed to be done to disable the traction controls in 01-02 4Runners. If you want to do the same thing as the Andymod without splicing wires, you can also just pull the large green fuse in the TRAC fuse box in the engine bay. I'm sure that's explained in one of the write ups

i was sliding all over the place tonight, but then again all i got is ABS. You start to slid once the snow comes, you cant stop it when your on a fresh 3in blanket of snow in an open parking lot (i cant wait for snow).

Googling Anymod led me to the yotatech forum and a description of the way to modify the system. Pulling the TRAC fuse sounds alot easier, but it might light up the TRAC on the dash. I am willing to take the chance. Anyways, great info.

...I mean....that's what I've heard...Me? Donuts? In a 4Runner? noooooo.....
