2wd or 4wd? I'm not familiar with 2wd, we don't get those up here in Canada. If its 4wd though, lock the center diff and it will turn off VSC so it'll let the tires break loose. You can't, however, turn off ATRAC which applies brakes to wheels that are spinning moving traction to the other wheel. You can still get sideways and throw some mud, but it makes some funny noises that are all normal that you might no expect.

Have fun!

There is a mod that can be done to turn VSC off while the center diff is open (if you have 4WD). Chris (CJ3Flyr) did a nice write-up on the mod... do a search for "VSC off" and you should find it easily.

I'm thinking about doing this next, but want to know about any long term affects it may cause. I just want to double-check.

The VSC off mod in my signature is pretty sweet. It's not as 'seamless' or nice as the OE switch that the '08+'s came with.

While not perfect I highly recommend it. I love being able to run with the center differential in use (t-case unlocked) and the traction control off. You'll still hear/feel the ATRAC controlling the right-to-left differences providing limited-slip-like performance without the engine output cutting out every time a wheel slips.

It takes a little switch jockeying but you can get it in 2wd with no traction control for super fun donuts:D
