Traction Pads

When tossing a floor mat under the wheels doesn't work, have heard there are other things one can place under the tire to get traction.

Did a google site:toyota-4Runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/ search but just didn't turn up useful links.

Looking for a DIY idea as the commercial ones are too expensive.

2X6 with chicken wire attached by staples,

now im not sure how good that would work but a buddy does it for his RZR. and dirt bike.

In forested areas I've used pine branches to regain traction when stuck in snow. I keep an axe handy in the rig and just trim off some of the lower branches from a big tree, laying a trail behind/ahead of the tires depending on which way I'm trying to go.

For snow, kitty litter is also an option for added traction in an emergency.

Interesting ideas, thanks. The pine branches would sure work great when they are handy! The chicken wire idea seems cool too, maybe something a bit more substantial?

I modified the first post to list an image of the (very expensive) commercial traction devices. Looking for something similar in a DIY to bring along.
