Trade for 07 T4R Limited

Hello everyone,
Not a current 4Runner owner, but longtime Tacoma owner..

I've wanted V8 power for a while now for pulling my boat in the summer. I've also felt my Taco is a bit of a dog anytime driving against a head wind..add any hills or towing and it really sucks..has to kick down a gear just to maintain speed. I'm also getting tired of the "truck like ride" of the taco..

So I'm thinking of trading my 08 Taco (93000 miles) for a 07 4Runner. The Runner is a V8 Limited 1 owner with 73000 miles, they are asking $22,900. They offered me 18,000 for my truck.

What do you guys think?
What is everyone's mileage with the V8 AWD system?

I don't know what part of the country your in, but I just paid $18k for a 2007 Limited, V8, 4x4 with 88k miles on it. I think they are asking too much. Btw, I'm in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

Yeah, I'd try to work on the price a little, but if it's a dealership, then that price isn't too bad.

Go drive the V8 if you haven't... You're going to LOVE it! So yeah, I'd say do it, if you test drive goes well and the vehicle checks out.

Mine's around 164K... Runs like a top!

I drove it and it was nice.. I've also pulled my boat with my dad's 05 tundra..it pulled it very nicely. I'm in central Iowa, seems most toyota prices are high around here..

What do you guys get for mileage?

Your mileage shouldn't be much different than the taco. 14-16 around town and 18-20 on the interstates.

The price does seem high to me as well, but I know when I was looking to trade my 07 SR5 for an 07 Sport with around 65K miles (give or take) they were all priced right around your finding. I'm not too far from you, and I was looking over in the Des Moines area as well.
Not sure why the midwest seems to have them priced so high. Coming up on winter and people are looking??

Yes the price is a little high but so is your trade in value. So they equal out.

If you would have worked the price first then your trade in would be lower as well.

i get about 17 in town 19-20 on the highway. I love the V8 in my limited.

I averaged right about 19 MPG over the first 6 years of ownership when it was in stock form... I miss that fuel mileage... I don't miss being stock though

I'm shopping for the same exact vehicle right now, just have to wait till my Bimmer sells. The same vehicle would be advertised for 24-26K up in the MA/CT area. Dealers of course - you can do better w/ private party.

I forgot to mention that mine came from a local Acura dealer at $18k. IMO $22,900 is way too high, regardless of trade. I had no trade in...

Just focus on the price difference, that is the key. Is the 4runner worth $4900 more than your truck. Some folks here are saying, the 4urnner price is too high, etc, and that may be true but the bottom line you want to focus on is the difference.
When both vehicles were new what were the difference and then you can extrapolate from there. Now they are both are few years old so the price difference gap may narrow a bit.

Any chance you could just straight sale the truck then go into the negotiations on the new 4runner with cash in hand? If you're not in a time constraint you would come out better financially this way. Tacoma's sell like hot cakes, and high, around here (NC). Just a thought.
