Trade in 2013 for 2014?

Hi everyone. I have a 2013 SR5 leased from a dealer here in Canada. I received a call from my dealer today essentially offering to take my 2013 and give me a 2014 for the same lease payment. Same trim as my current SR5. Now I haven't delved into the details yet so there may be a catch, but has anyone heard of these types of offers?

Thanks.

Bait and hook calls. Dealer shouldn't be calling you directly though unless you've told them to.

Scam......

Let me put it this way..... They ( the stealership) will be making even MORE money off you then they already are.

They will put that 13 back on the lot and re sell it "used" for 2k less then a new one would be

so basicaly, they got a year of lease payments out of you, not to mention a downpayment and now they are going to turn around and " sell the car again"

They gain a CPO used truck to sell for a nice profit, after they ding you for any issues or mileage discrepancies, and they lock you in for another new lease, stripping you of anything you might have gained in equity towards that 2013.

The simplest way to put it: the dealer wants your money, knows how to get it, but is hoping you're not the type of person who second guesses their intentions. They are a business, they want your money, and nothing they do is for your benefit.

Who cares about all that? OP surely knows any dealership is a business, and a business exists for one thing.

I say go see what they have in mind, what's to lose?

Uhhh, money...

Trading a 13 for a 14 unless it's a cash deal is just bad financially.

Well, duh. I was giving the OP credit for being smart enough to know that. AFAIK, that would be true for any trade-in at any dealer, yes?

I'm sure noone would expect it to be an even-up trade. I just said nothing to lose by checking it out.

Lols, did you even read what OP was allegedly offered by the dealership? Assuming the offer is legit, tell me how trading his '13 for a '14 straight up and keeping the same lease payments is a bad deal financially?

The way I see it is, no money out of pocket, same month payments out of pocket and most likely a slightly longer lease term. Seems like you'd end up with an upgraded model without any money down.

If you did the same exact thing a few years later when your lease is up, you'd be out these same lease payments, and additionally have to repay a new down payment on whatever new model you are upgrading to.

I'm with philsey, OP you've got nothing to loose in stopping by the dealership and seeing what it all boils down to.
