traded 15 trail for 17 tundra

Here's a story for you. I bought a 2015 trail drove it for 2 years. Liked it but kept dreaming of a tundra crew max. ALL THAT POWER!!! Finally jumped in and made the switch in mid May. Got a limited inferno crew max . ....and....hated it!...missed my 4runner EVERY day!...sold the Crew max and ordered a 17 trd off road premium...basically what I had before...you want to talk about an expensive lesson?...oh well...life is short...and I will probably keep this 4runner for the rest of my life...being 61....so the moral of the story is...you can still do stupid stuff when your old?...

I considered a similar trade a few months back but fortunately set my sights on trading my 15 Trail for a 17 LE. For me it was the right move and being of a certain age likely my last new vehicle.

Well. I about to trade in my 2014 Range Rover Sport 5.0 Supercharged with Dynamic package for a TRD Pro. Thats gonna hurt with that depreciation!

No issues with the range. My third in a row and all have hit 100k without a trip to dealership except tires/oil. My senior partner is a tech junkie and picked up two Tesla P90Ds for our company vehicles....without telling me!! Not complaining but wouldn't be my choice. I'm not willing to sit on the RRS while its a weekend vehicle now and watch it depreciate. Had a 4Runner prior in 08 and never had an issue with it. Had a FJ Trails Edition for 2 years and sold it for what i paid. Started traveling more and the FJ sucked on the highway but was otherwise a fun vehicle to drive.

Will take a 10k hit on the Range on a trade, but plan on the 4Runner for a long time.......

I went from a 2016 RRS HSE (supercharged V6) to a 2017 TRD Pro. Can't say I miss the RRS much at all. It handled better and was quicker, but that's about it.

I pick it up tonight and can't wait!! Yup, the RR is quick, but with 22 street tires and dedicated winters I look forward to getting the 4Runner up in VT and Maine..I woulda kept the FJ but had started traveling a lot for work and doing 200 mile trips in the FJ was a bit bumpy, and the gas tank way too small!!

First mod tomorrow will be the BFG KO2s.....only 275s, wanna see how they fit and ride. Then sliders.....

I will miss the heated windshield I think...and that may be about it. And I think even the 5.0 at over 500hp got better mpg than the 4Runner will

I bought a '12 Crewmax TRD Tundra brand new and drove it up until 4 months ago when I traded it in for a '17 TRD off road 4 runner.

Ther a re a small number of things I truly miss about the Tundra, mostly the iForce V8, but I see myself in the 4Runner for a very long time.

Parking the Tundra daily in a downtown urban area was my biggest complaint. After ripping the front bumper off some poor bastard's Porsche trying to exit a cramped parking lot I decided it was time to down-scale.

In an ideal situation where $$$ is no object, I would have one of each.

sorry just saw all the replys to my story.size, gas mileage, parking, and build quality. i had a 2000 tundra for 14 years. the 17 tundra didnt seem as well made as the 2000 or the 4runner. Especially the interior. Lots of plastic too. when i opened the fuel door and saw the plastic hinge I thought, saving weight? then why the crappy gas mileage? The 4runner seems much better made...
