Trail Edition Patience

So after a year of saving my pennies and checking the listings almost every day I finally found a 2009 Trail Edition for a decent price. I almost pulled the trigger a few times on both a 1999 Limited with locker (60k mi) and a 2010 SR5 4x4 but kept talking myself out of them trying to holdout. Im flying one-way to pick it up and drive it back home this weekend. Ill def be looking for advice on lift, tires, tomtom replacement, etc. and from lurking here for most of the last year I know Ill find my answers.

AND FOR THOSE WHO WANT A 2009 TRAIL EDITION...there is one listed on cars.com for a sweet price in North Carolina, almost got it since it has leather and is white which is what I wanted...oh well, cheaper to fly and drive than ship!!

i looked at that one, its close to mine in specifications. I did not realize that leather was an option on the 09 TE--nothing I've researched showed that.
It is interesting, my VIN is --R59K--- and that ones number is only about 1500 numbers lower--

So got the new beast and drove it 760mi back to Texas from Wichita. Easy drive, no probs, lots of bugs on the hood though. The only thing that kinda surprised me was the poor(er than expected) gas mileage, however, I was going against a 20-30mph headwind the entire way and running the a/c. It was flat roads though, speeds were cruise controlled at 70-75 and my 2 tank highway average was 17.7mpg. Was hoping for closer to 20+. Truck is bone stock with just under 13k. Im gonna keep it stock for a little bit then Daystar lift and 1" larger tires, nothing too crazy as its my DD and I intend to keep it until gasoline is obsolete.

Trail Edition

May you enjoy your ride as much as I enjoy mine. It is the best vehicle I have ever owned--14 months, 14K miles--overall mileage about 17 (70%city-short distance). Only thing I don't like is the tomtom nav system-screen too small, ipod resets every time, and controls hard to work. Will be changing it soon. Hqwever, the tomtom works well outside the 4Runner and that's a good thing. I did swap out the Dunlops early on--have Michelin Latitude Tours, since I do mostly highway mileage-wet, but no mud or snow to speak of.
