Trail Edition

Soooo... I saw a trail edition in colorado springs today. We got to drive it. I have a video of the interior while driving so you can hear how it sounds IF somebody can tell me how to upload a video.

I thought the car was beautiful. It didn't feel any different in size to me, except there was more head room. The new gauge layout is great, and NAV is great. As far as plastics there are NO more than the current 4runner, and there is even MORE leather on the doors than before.

The ride was nice. It sounds more like a V6 (SEE VIDEO...). Ride is virtually the same as the 4th gen.

Underneith... you wouldn't believe it but THE TRAIL EDITION HAS NEARLY 10" OF MINIMUM GROUND CLEARANCE!!!!!!!!!!!! SEE THE PHOTO! (PLEASE NOTE THAT THE RULER DOES NOT BEGIN RIGHT AT ONE, THERE IS SPACE IN FRONT GIVING A TOTAL OF ABOUT 10").
That was VERY PLEASING to see.

Very cool!!! Cool ground clearance!! As for the video, you have to upload it to Youtube (or whatever place you want) and then you can link it from here.

Thanks again for the pic and the ground clearance measurement...only an enthusiast would bring a ruler to a dealer! :D If your measurement is true, then THE 2010 TRAIL EDITION is the ONE to get IMHO! For me, i would not even need to do any lift with that type of clearance! Put on BFG AT KO and i am good to go! :)

And YOU sir ain't no enthusiast!! Where was your ruler?!! :D

LOL..... They have them down in south Texas!!! It's free to test drive em,go check it out .

I'm buying a Limited 4X4 and my money is already spent on one!I prefer the luxury, aka leather, full time 4x4,smart key and all the goodies of the Limited.I jusy need it to get here and whatever ground clearance is what ever I have. It should be the same. I have test driven 4 new 2010's already in the last 2 weeks and 2 were T.E.'s . My old 4runner is sold and they are letting me drive a new Venza til it gets here.

The ride is pretty close to same ,limited to the T.E. The front and rear plastic bumper covers are the main thing that sets the T.E. look from the Limited and they are just plastic covers over the bumper and easily changed over some time down the road when I get bored. ARB rear air lockers are about $900 for a future mod.

Stopped at a local dealer today since they were closed and looked at a Trail Edition (it was unlocked :wink2:). It's not a too bad of a design, it looks alot better than the SR5 and Limited models with the colored keyed everything on the outside. The black accents/pieces just seems to fit with it more and makes the outside a little more appealing. Now if they just put a better tire on it.

Inside it's not that bad and I didn't think the material used isn't bad. It felt halfways comfortable and the layout wasn't that bad but yet, I still wonder who thought of putting the controls up on the roof and the placement of the transfer case lever. The placement just seems strange (my only interior gripe).

Overall, it seems to be good vehicle but I think after it's been out awhile it may get better but it still doesn't hold a candle to the 3rd Gen IMO. :)
