You do have to remove these J shaped bars in order to get the pro skid plate on a KDSS trail. They simply hang too low to allow the skid plate to mate up to the bolt holes. I’m not sure what the purposes of the bars are, but the Pro skid plate is not a one for one swap. The J shaped bars on the SR5/Pro/non-KDSS vehicles stay in place on with the Pro skid plate.

So for you driving dirt roads and easy trails above 15 mph is not actual offroading? Here is some news:
1/ that is where most of the time is spent whether you like it or not.
2/the bigger the sway bar, the better the performance and the worse the comfort.
3/ comfort matters to most folks and is extremely important to those who offroad with kids.
What in my post made you think I had not measured it?
Brand new vehicles on dealer's lot:
Regular TRD and SR5: 9.6 to front of the front skid plate where the edge is.
TRD with KDSS 1" less to the same spot.
Take a look at the design of aftermarket plates also. There is a reason the front of the engine skid is very different. The more it protrudes, the worse as that front edge is where most hits happen.
No, the lost 1" is no end of the world, but it is an annoyance that has to be dealt with. The front edge of the engine skid is the area that takes the most regular beating though not the one that takes the big hits (that would be the rear pax side LCA bracket skid), mistakes at speed excluded.

I have so much to learn (seriously). I've come from lowering vehicles, not raising them. There's a thread on lifting 4Rs with KDSS, looks like I'm going to need to spend some time in there.
Finally got the Pro eibach suspension shipped to me, now to figure out how to get it raised 2" over where I'm currently at, and not have the KDSS lean.

I suppose that's how you spend your time. I wouldn't know. I only see 4Runners offroad on the East Coast beaches, mostly the Outer Banks or Eastern Shore/Delmarva or maybe Jersey. Lots and lots of very deep soft sand and coquina sand.
I do drive some dirt roads to get to a couple of lakes and ponds, but that's only when I'm pulling my boat and there aren't any ramps when I get to the muddy banks.

In the West most time is indeed spent on dirt roads and easy trails. That's how one usually gets to interesting places as well as to the moderate and difficult trails.
There are exceptions for people interested in extreme stuff (lots of these around Phoenix, Lake Havasu, Moab, some places in CO) where you can get to that kind of trails with minimum dirt road and easy trails between the pavement and those. But if one is into exploring, then easy and dirt road mileage dominates. And most of the mileage on moderate and many difficult trails is also easy. Trails are rated by their hardest spot and few non-extreme trails are consistently difficult. Even around Moab, there are dozens of dirt roads and easy trails in addition to the moderate, difficult, and extreme ones. In addition, a 5th gen is not really for extreme stuff though with enough mods, desire, and damage tolerance everything is possible.
Back to the topic, my point is that each trim so far (before 2019 Pro) has offered a different kind of compromise. I am not arguing that KDSS is a bad choice but that it is not the best for everyone. So the point is to choose the best for one's particular wants.

Ok, i will do my best to explain one last time since you seem incapable of comprehension. In the tuner market, upgrades to cars were broken down into stages. For instance: stage one would be bolt-ons, cold air intake, exhaust. Stage 2 would add an ecu tune. Stage 3 would be a larger turbo, fuel injectors, etc. if you still cannot understand and comprehend what the different stages of suspension upgrades are, then I don’t know what else to tell you....maybe turn on Nickelodean, drink a juice box and flick your boogers at the wall.

well this isn't a tuner crowd. We're all aware of the stages that icon markets. It doesn't apply across the board to every offroad suspension.
Maybe you ought to try to try to fit in to this community that extends beyond last november.

Generally people that go offroading are respectful and courteous to one another, if not only for self-preservation on the trail. You might not run in to someone that is dazzled by your scs wheels and want to help out.

i do like how you keep making your argument worse while accusing me of not being able to comprehend it.
My point from the beginning was you talk all this crap about Pro's then refer to your suspension as Stage 2 so almost anyone would assume you're running ICON. But you aren't. No one since the first 5th Gen 4R was lifted (who was that guy again?) has ever referred to suspension changes in general stages in the way you are. Maybe that's why I can't comprehend it, because it was made up by a clown who can't spell Nickelodeon.

We have trails, but the only really good one is probably the Appalachian Trail. It runs from Maine to Georgia, but you have to walk the entire way. :ybrick:
Speaking of offroad...did you happen to see the story last July out of Corolla NC? Corolla is where the Outer Banks' Hwy 12 pavement ends and the sand road begins going north up the beach to the homes in the offroad area.

The whole "Stage" concept is marketing lingo created by aftermarket companies to sell packages of products as an upgrade path for customers. A lot of tuner companies use it so their communities adopted it as shorthand so you would know the extent of someone's modifications or for comparisons.
I haven't seen it used much in the off-roading community.
