Trail with Thule MOtion XT (L)

Hey guys,
I wanted to share my new addition to the 4Runner. My fiance is convinced we have run out of room in the 4Runner. She initially wanted a rack system, but I felt like we can hold out on a rack for a while. So I took a look at the Thule cargo boxes. Picked up a Motion XT size large. So far I have nothing but good things to say about it. The locking claws self regulate the torque applied and the installation was almost effortless. Currently it is mounted to the factory crossbars, but if I experience the bowing that most other users have experienced, I will upgrade to some Thule crossbars.

Looking good. We also regularly run out of space on our longer trips. I never realized just how light roof boxes were (empty; 42 lb).

Thanks! Yea I looked at many options for storage and I think the fact that I can lock our stuff up on the fly and keep things dry, the box was just a no brainer. Yea I believe this one is 40 pounds ish. I just wonder how the plastic will hold up in the sun/heat over time.

Are you talking about the front bowing? I believe its because the shark fin is allowing the Thule Box back area to raise and causing the front to dip..

I have the Force L and it fits perfect without it touching the fin.
