trailer hitch issues

when i try to insert the ballmount into the reciever part of the tow bar, the ballmount will not go far enough back before it hits the spare tire. The securing pin holes don't line up. Has anyone found a ballmount brand that works? I've tried three different ballmounts to see if they varied in length, but they've all been the same. any suggestions?

Three suggestions:
1) Stock sized spare? If so drop it down a bit and kick it forward a bit then crank it back up. Don't have it so far forward that's it's contacting the bar on the forward side though.
2) If that doesn't do it swing by any machine shop/metal fab place and have them cut 1" off of the hitch so it can go in far enough for pin alignment. They'll put it on a bandsaw and it'll take 5 minutes.
3) Buy the Toyota accessory one. The bad thing about that is you don't get to choose your drop. And I'm sure they're very proud of it ($$$).
