Tranny bleeding

I got transmission fluid flowing out of the bell housing where the service hole is. Anybody got a clue on what it might be? :wtf:

Man, you're just gonna softball in a title like that?

In all seriousness, it sounds like the input shaft seal is toast. Time to pull the tranny.

:violin: i was thinking of that too. I'm also hoping i didn't damage the transmission. 2 hours into my road trip and the transmission started slipping. Pulled into a parking lot and I the smell burn oil. It got all over underneath the truck.

Why aren't you freaking out yet? Tranny slipping and you are losing oil? I would be at Toyota getting a few quarts of Tranny fluid ASAP.

Got it towed back home and i did add fluid to get a better idea where the leak was coming from. And it's coming out of the bell housing service hole(?). Pretty bummed now.

Guess I'll update for those that are curious. Lots of sand in the bell housing. Torque converter is burnt in a small area. Was hard to remove and seals are bad. Didn't see anything weird in the oil or the pan. Trying to decide if i should just replace the seals and torque converter or just snatch a used transmission. Not sure what made it leak. I've driven trucks and cars on beach sand before and never this issue. Torque converter range from aftermarket around $100ish(rockauto)to $600 plus for OEM. Used low mileage i found locally is around $700plus. Decisions, decisions.
