Tranny issues ?

Ok. So I'm new to this but I hope you guys can help me.
I have a 99 4Runner auto V6 with 143K. Anytime I put the truck in 4H I'll feel one of the tires kind of jumping whenever I'm driving slow. My understanding was that I can use 4H whenever the road is slippery due to rain, snow etc. granted I haven't driving the truck in the snow yet because I just got it.
If anyone can help me I'll really appreciate it.

Unless the blacktop was covered in snow, I don't think wet from rain gives you enough wheel slippage on regular pavement.

I think your truck is complaining and it might be justified.

Get it on a dirt road and that will provide enough slippage that you won't bind up your transfer case/ differentials.

Of course, if this was happening on a dirt/snowy road, forgive my assumptions.

Things are probably all working normally and a 4x4 will exhibit those steering/hopping traits you described but I think it is hard on your drive train and should be avoided except when traction is somewhat questionable or there is a lot of "give" to the terrain you are on.
