trans oil cooler

I'm preparing to install a trans oil cooler on my 2004 SR5 V6 4 runner and have a couple of questions . # 1 , should I bypass the existing radiator oil cooler ? #2 , if I mount the oil cooler with the inlet and outlet facing towards the drivers side of the truck should the return hose to the trans be at the top or the bottom of the cooler or doesn't it make any difference ?

Thanks , Jack

#1 - Yes you should bypass it completely.

#2 - Not sure if it really matters. But last one I installed(some 25+ years ago)..the connectors on the cooler were marked for in and out.

Thanks , I read on another forum that with the coolers connections facing sideways it's a good idea to have the return line coming out of the cooler at the top and the inlet line to the bottom to make sure there will be no air trapped in the cooler . I'm not to sure how important this is but I though I would ask opinions . I haven't received the cooler yet but I will check for inlet and outlet .

Thank , Jack
