Trans Temp Guage

Does the scangauge provide the ATF reading on the 96-98 4runners? I read some people not getting the reading on those years.

I have a 98 and the codes that work with the 99-02 4Runners for ATF doesn't work with mine. I guess the only way that we can monitor the temp of our trans fluid is to install a separate gauge.

Correct. The SGII will not read ATF temps on 96-98 4Runners. Toyota did not incorporate ATF temp readings thru OBDII until the debut of the '99 4Runner. Thus the reason the SGII will only pull ATF temp readings on 99-up 4Runners.
