Trans Wisconsin Adventure Trail

Has anyone ever ran the Trans Wisconsin Adventure Trail? Not a lot of information about it online. Me and a Jeep friend are going to run the trail halfway up this January. We're pretty stoked

I've done the entire thing on bikes a couple of times and the bottom half in my 4runner. It's mostly curvy scenic paved roads and gravel roads so any vehicle is really capable of doing it. In the bottom half there's a hill/road called Grampa's run that's a little rough and fun. You probably will not use 4wd at all unless there's snow/ice. Still a good trip a nice to have tracks to follow. If you make the other some day there is some pretty loose sandy roads near the top of the trail though where 4wd would help. I usually do it in the fall when the leaves are changing. A little funner for bikes with all the twisty roads. Still a great way to kill a couple days.

I've been thinking about doing this in my 3rd gen as well. Like OP found, information is sketchy online. What source did you use for following the trail? Was the trail open at all times or did you find areas closed off?

I've just downloaded the tracks from the guy that put together the trail. He has a site. Lone Wolf Expeditions: Trans Wisconsin Adventure Trail
He's a pretty cool guy and very friendly. There's ones for motorcycles and and an overland one for Jeeps/Trucks. He uploads new versions every couple of years I think I've done 3 variations of the trial. Basically it gets better as time goes on.

I've been into bikes since I was 12. Just started offroading in trucks because I have a kid now and want to take him with me on the mini adventures.

did you run the lower portion last month? thinking to do the same just to give me a excuse to get one more winter camp out adventure.

It looks like the GPS links are bad. Atleast for the Overland route. Wonder if anyone has it backed up and is willing to shar

I have the overland file from 2015. Doesn't look like .gpx is a valid extension. I've zipped it and attached. Good luck.
