Transfer case leak from solinoid

My 2004 Toyota 4 runner limited with the 4.7 is leaking from the transfer case solenoid and I called Toyota for the seal they want 4.50 for the seal, just curious to find out what they charge to do it I asked them they relied with 1200 dollars I asked them what it entailed were they replied pulling the transmission and transfer case as well as a entire transfer case rebuild. I find this hard to believe anyone know if you really have to do that? it seems to be able to be simply removed by three bolts in the back.
do certain models of transfer case take different kinds of servicing?

Do a search its been discussed quite a bit(not tryin to be rude just helpful). It's a very difficult procedure to do thus the high cost.. Quite a few threads with alot of detailed specifics...

Simple and temporary fix. Took the three bolts off pulled back about half inch. Cleaned it very well. Apply honda bond around the entire solenoid. Reverse install. Now quarter size drip or two a day. Reduced to dime size a week or longer.

I think its time for you to do a DIY on replacing the actuators on these 4runners.

Yeah it's a huge deal. I had my actuator replaced under warranty a few months ago.

A transfer case swap should take about 45 minutes. Call around to local salvage yards. I found that I could buy another complete case for $650ish. That's half the cost of letting the dealer fix yours.

I honestly wouldn't mind, but the actuator on my 4Runner is nice and clean and we haven't had a T120 come in for a actuator in a long while.
