Howdy all, I just bought a 1991 with 190K on the clock for my teenage daughter. The transfer case is broken, and when I say broken I mean broken. The actual case is open and all of the oil has dropped out. I could care less about the 4wd function as this beater will be just for my daughter to drive the 5mi back and forth to school and around town. Heres what I need answered: my next door neighbor swears the the transfer case can sieze and lock up the auto tranny even if its not engaged. Is this true? Can I just have her wheel around town in 2wd with no worries?
Second, if I go the junk yard and get a transfer case can I slap it on without dropping the tranny? And third, is the 3ltr V6 an interference engine? Thanks in advance!!
