Transfer Gobi Roof Rack to 5th Gen

I have a full length Gobi roof rack on my 4th gen. (picture attached) I'm considering purchasing a 5th gen but I would really like to transfer the roof rack. I stopped by a local dealer today and got out the measuring tape. The distance between (width) the roof rail tracks on both my 4th gen and a new 5th gen seemed exactly the same (about 42.5 inches) from center to center.

The Gobi rack is currently mounted using the same anchor points as the roof rails on the 4th gen. The anchor points on the 5th Gen are different distances--only 2 on the fifth gen vs. 3 on the 4th gen. Makes me think that I might need to drill two new points in the track (yikes) to get the new rack onto the 5th gen.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I cant speak for anyone else...but my TE 4Runner Roof rack is 43" from O to O in the front...and 42-1/4" from O to O in the rear.

I was contemplating starting and buildin a roof rack until I went out and measured it...just slowed things down in the design stage a bit.

Makes me think that I might need to drill two new points in the track (yikes) to get the new rack onto the 5th gen.

That's a great looking setup you have on the 4th gen. Can you post some more pics? Dunno about drilling the extra holes--I suppose it's been done before. Might be worth a try to contact Gobi or ARB and see if they are planning a full length rack for the 5th gen anytime soon.
