Transmission Capacity?

2010 Auto Transmission with 60,000 miles. Shop that did state inspection said they need to evacuate and fill the transmission. Said it takes 13 quarts at $10 a quart and $100 labor. I am willing to bet that is all BS, but thought I would ask the experts! Thanks.

What is their justification for this recommendation?

It was my understanding these trans had 'lifetime' fluid in them that didn't need replacing under normal circumstances. Not that I, IMHO, believe that any fluid is going to last for 'life', but 60k seems a bit soon for a fluid change unless there is a trans problem.

Do not let them open that trans! It does NOT need to be drained and re-filled at 60K

When it comes to transmissions, esp new ones, the motto "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" holds true.

Not sure if you are saying that they are trying to fail you for not replacing the trans fluid, but if they are suggesting that, politely ask them to point out where on the safety/emissions checklist that this is listed as a required item to check. Certainly sounds like BS to me, and even if it was not, I wouldn't let anyone but Toyota replace my trans fluid because it is a very involved processes and easy to screw up.

Had mine changed about a couple months ago.
It's about 12 litres.
60K is way too soon. 100k is when I do it and I'm just about to hit 300k
Did they say the usual "It smells burnt" thing?
If so, ask "Well what does it taste like" and move on.
