Transmission Cooler?

This was the post that got the OP's panties in a bunch. I don't see nothing out of line from this post.
I don't get how some of you get all pissy about this post. It's a legitimate statement.
As the previous poster above me pointed out, it takes 5 seconds to do a search and to come up with your answer. Hell, there are stickies with PICTURES of what tranny cooler to purchase right on the top of this forum.
If the OP came back and said, "Hey I did a search and what do you think about this tranny cooler vs this tranny cooler"? Now, we can have a discussion, but that obviously wasn't the OP's response was it. Before he edited his response, he flat out stated he didn't have time to search, and it was a waste of his time, then he edited to that he did search but it was still a waste of his time.
Then half of you rush to defend the OP, without even knowing how this thread degenerated in the first place.
I have no problems contributing to a thread in a positive manner, but I also have zero problems finding ways to entertaining myself.
Again, I'm here for the LulZ...carry on.

Hey man, how much was that dynamat (or whatever vibration dampener you used)? I really need some. I cannot stand rattles! It's priceless when these youngsters pull up to the light bumping some cardi b or whatever, smirking at the old man in the 4wd. Imagine their surprise when they find out quick the old dude's got a pair of 10" Kickers in the back, and JBL all the way around the cabin! Master P makes the earth quake under that Honda accord!

Towed my boat today to the boat ramp 10 miles away today and didn't get my trans temp above the 150's, according to my Scan gauge, on the way back didn't get out of the 160's. The boat, trailer and gear, are close to the 5k towing max.
Could smell the brakes were a little hot when I got home in the afternoon, not burning. As far as I'm concerned if I have to, I will tow with my boat as is without a tranny cooler. Will try to get my buddies to tow it with their trucks most of the time.

You know, this is probably one of the most toxic boards I'm on. And I'm a frequent poster in GD of Arfcom -- that should say something.
(There was a paragraph here about the Seareous Dudez here but decided they aren't worth my time in addressing.)
I too was looking for transmission cooler threads. And I too used the Google machine to search for an answer so I could appease the Search Nazis and not waster their valuable time. Most threads were either left hanging, didn't get into too much detail, or was old enough to where I thought there might be newer answers elsewhere.
Anyway, the only things I came up with were that some people do add them but it can void warranty (not an issue for me) and that it's pain to check fluid level to know how much to add to make up for the cooler. So I thought about mocking up the cooler, lines attached, add fluid to fill the cooler and lines, pinch the lines, and then do a hard install. This way I should only be a bit off on fluid level.

That video is wrong on many levels. They used the "touch" method to determine fluid flow sequence. As a result, they screwed up and connected the cooler to the wrong side of the existing radiator (before the existing cooler but should be after the existing cooler).
Also the mounting bracket was connected between the support brace on the body and the front bumper beam connected to the frame. We know that the frame moves in relation to the body. This will eventually crack the transmission cooler.
The existing cooler/warmer is on the bottom of the radiator (inside the radiator). An auxiliary cooler should be connected to the passenger side of the radiator. This is where fluid exits the existing cooler.
I just installed a large transmission cooler on my 2016 4Runner. I also installed a 180 degree thermostat to prevent the fluid getting too cold in winter. I also installed a Scangauge II to monitor ATF temperature. We'll be towing a 2500 lbs. travel trailer. So far, fluid temperature (in the pan) has never reached over 170 degrees, even on hot days. It gets to temperature within 15 minutes of driving and stays at around 160 degrees, varying slightly (+/- 5 degrees).
I also filled the rear differential with premium Amsoil, 100% synthetic 75W-90 Severe Gear oil to minimize wear while towing.

BTW, it's quite easy to check fluid level in the transmission. It's best to use a scanner to read transmission temperature off the OBD2 port but it closely matches temperature measured with an infrared 'gun' at the bottom of the transmission oil pan.
I just did a partial fluid exchange (drain and refill) on my 2016 model with 25,000 easy miles. Fluid was brown, not even red anymore. I seriously doubt this fluid would have lasted 100k. I replaced it with Amsoil Fuel Saving Signature transmission fluid. Took about 3 quarts. I'll do this again before the end of the year and will keep doing it at every other engine oil change.
