Cruising on interstate, 600mile *edit: each way road trip.

Coming home to Atlanta from great weekend. Cruising on interstate. Fell out of 5th. Crunched when trying to put it back into gear and popped back out. It would take 4th, so cruised 80miles at 55mph, 2900ish rpm. Quiet, smooth and normal.

Got off I85 for dinner, came to stop. Foot off clutch wanted to stall. Neutral shifter position not real neutral...?

1st gear went crunch. No go, stranded.

Tow truck and ride now. Rebuild? Junkyard replacement? Anyone had similar?

That was very nice of your Yota to give you impending doom warnings before finally calling it quits. Being stranded after dinner is a hell of a lot better than stranded 30 miles from anywhere.
 
Sorry about your baby. Personally, I'd be for scrounging a used one to buy me time while I learned how to rebuild the original one. :)

Mine had a similar demise about a year ago. Lots of crunching, not going into most gears and such. The only gear I could use was 4th. Luckily I was less than a mile from home.

I found a pretty cheap used one with a t-case on the Craigslist. Pretty easy swap with a buddy and a floor jack.

Haven't pulled the old one apart yet but I'd like to rebuild it and replace as the one I picked up has a chain drive t-case.

Got a short tow to a friends house and then rental car home, already missed unplanned day today at work :/. Still gotta figure out how to get her the last 300miles home.

Good looking truck, don't you dare ditch it.

What do you have that can tow 4000 pounds? Tow bars from Uhaul or wherever hook up to the front crossmember real easy. Make sure to unlock the hubs and drop the rear driveshaft (might not matter in your case, but still :) ).
 
At 260 kmiles, original clutch replaced. Dad used autozone type replacement. 100k miles later... Throwout bearing and/or clutch went to shit?

Long shot, only mildly hopeful.

Nope...

This came out when we drained transmission oil.

Rebuilt from Marlin on the way with short shifter.

Old clutch after 90kmiles still in excellent condition. Pilot bearing was trashed.

Diffs serviced, new rear main seal, new clutch in, just waiting on Marlin rebuilt...

Got her together. Shifting is really heavy. Squishy leather OE toyota knob making it difficult. Need some break in and/or weighted shift knob,

No, test drive :( exhaust manifold going to machine shop Monday, bit warped. New gaskets for it and flange.
