Transmission input shaft seal replacement

Anyone have any tips for getting off the bearing retainer plate? I'm having a hard time getting the plate off with all the factory FIPG/RTV on there. The trans is still in the truck but my engine is out so its accessible. I'm trying to avoid dropping the trans.

Plastic mallet and tap on it,rubber may work also.

tried that, its just at a hard angle to get a good hit on it since the bell housing is in the way........wait, maybe i should take the bell housing off?

Finally got it out. I thought it was leaking on the left you can see the dark spots but when i got it separated you can see the seal area was still clean. The shaft seal was hard but didnt appear to be leaking. Oh well, with 250k miles its cheap insurance and piece of mind
