Transmission Issue?

Hey guys, just trying to get some input. I recently purchased an '08 4Runner V6. I previously had an '05 V8 and didn't notice this issue.

When I'm accelerating I notice that it seems the V6 shifts a little rough. It doesn't jerk, but it definitely has a bit of a rougher shift than my '05 had. I also noticed when slowing down, around 30-35mph I can feel the truck upshift, and it feels like it pulls the truck back to slow down rougher than my '05 did. The '05 had 193k miles and this newer '08 has 83,500 miles.

Just curious if I might be overthinking this or if anything changed in the transmission from '05 to '08 that I was unaware of.

On my 08 V6, the transmission automatically upshifts when I hit the brakes. See if there's a correlation between when you're feeling the upshift and hitting the brakes.

Have you checked transmission fluid condition? It it's never been changed (which seems likely) it could be that simple.

Yeah, its definitely with slowing down in general. It's just more violent around 30-35mph when downshifting. Wasn't sure if it was normal

I haven't yet. I thought of that or at least trying to do a drain and fill to see if that would help. Just didn't know if anyone was experiencing the same thing.
