Transmission Leak

So I noticed I'm losing a lot of tranny fluid underneath. It's still a red color and it actually knocked into gear the other day. My question is; is it safe to add that "Stop Leak" fluid in until I get the money next week to fix the seal? Also our '97 auto v6's take Dex 3 correct? Lastly if I'm adding tranny fluid do I add it through the dipstick like other vehicles I've had?

Probably Safe but i wouldn't do it. Why is because i tried Lucas tranny stop leak on an old acura rl i had, didn't work one bit, it still poured out at the same rate as before. Besides those planetary trannies are expensive to rebuild, so i'd just fix it or park it till i could afford it.

Yup fluid goes in thru the dipstick and is does use dex3. Luck!
