Transmission problem

My sisiter drives a 1988 t/p 22-re with a manual transmission, and just recently while she was driving the car got stuck in 4th gear and would not go into neutral or any other gears. We parked for the time being and today i looked and it was leaking motor oil. It has never leaked before. Also when i drove it to get home the clutch felt partially engaged, and the clutch started smoking...So know it sits, does anyone have any ideas???

I was going to drop the transmission and check the clutch but wanted some input first

Are you sure that its leaking motor oil? Where is it leaking from?

So yesterday i worked the clutch while the t-case was in neutral and it popped out of 4th. I drove it and it worked fine but it sounded like the clutch was grinding... I guess its time for a new one. Does any one have good instructions on how to do this???

The oil was leacking from the oil pan gasket, weird timing for it.

Please explain "transfer case in neutral".

Which shifter was in neutral?

The 5-speed shifter or the 4x4 shifter?

Are you sure you don't mean partially dis-engaged?
