Transmission Shift Question

So my 2006 SR5 2wd V6 165k miles recent purchase seems to shift different than I'm used to in other vehicles. I do mainly town driving 35-45 mph. So say I take off at a usual rate and get up to 40 mph speed limit being 35. It's fully warmed up by the way. Unless I go over 40 it takes a long time to go into 5 but as soon as I go around 38-40+ it'll shift to fifth. Is this something to worry about? By this I mean if I stay below forty it typically won't go into 5th.

I'd say do a nice tranny flush with fresh WS ATF, it does actually help a bit. Many people are told its a "lifetime" fluid which is just wrong, it lasts about 100k under normal driving and the previous owner may not have done that service.

It was flushed around 400 miles ago haha. I hadn't had the car long so I honestly can't say whether it actually changed anything. Maybe an ecu reset would help. But I just don't really recall whether it did this before or after the flush at toyota. I've probably had it a maximum of 900 miles. But I know it does this consistently on my way to and from work. I guess I'll try an ecu reset, do you think that'll change anything? I'm not sure if these transmissions learn
I-ECT transmission or not.

They do have a reset learned values option in TIS Techstream for the vehicle and I did notice a slight change in shifting when I did it to my 4Runner.

Would pulling the two ecu fuses I forgot the names but they are in the engine fuse box, do the reset for that?

It's hard to describe something like that precisely, but it doesn't sound unusual to me. Throttle application has to be awfully light to get a shift at 35mph. With normal traffic acceleration on the gentle side of the range, my truck shifts into 5th about 45mph. That would be holding the pedal steady through the final shift. The shift can be induced quite a bit sooner by letting up on the pedal.

Around town, I mostly drive in 4th gear, not bothering with 5th unless I want to coast and then I'll bump the shifter over. If you watch the tach, the torque converter locks and unlocks at lot in 5th gear at 35-40 mph. Maybe there's nothing wrong with that, but I'd rather roll locked up in 4th gear at those speeds.
