Sorry I posted about this a while back, but can't seem to find that post. Anyway-
I was running up Mosquito pass in CO in early August when the transmission (according to Scangauge) reached 285. This is with the TRD cooler and new Toyota fluid. Shortly thereafter I turned around an it began cooling immediately.
I was a bit loaded with 3 adults, 1 kid an 2 dogs.
I think the issue now was (based on some info. In the Overlanders Handbook) that it may have been overheating as I had the "4WD" button depressed on the transfer stick as opposed to manually shifted into H4.
Does this make a difference? Am I darn lucky my tranny didn't fry?
