Yesterday I decided to go out, and give everything a once over just to make certain I didn't see anything going on. I checked the fluid level, and it was right where it should. The fluid was also a good red color, and that's a good sign. I did notice a very slight burnt smell, but I don't feel that's anything too alarming given the issues that I'm having.
I also did a little looking around, and all the transmissions I'm seeing in the area are $1300+. I know the 3rd Gen 4runners are considered gold, but $1300+ for a grade C transmission is out of this world. I'm going to have it looked at, and try to get a professional opinion I can trust. I just don't see myself paying that kind of money for my 2nd replacement transmission.
