Transporting bikes inside

Inside only works for road bikes, but there is no ideal spot, as roof is annoying because of weight, Hitch is good but access to the tailgate is limited, inside is ok but you lose a lot of space and get muddy if it is a mountian bike. The trick is to live next to a sick trail.

I have done this same thing years ago but I connected the fork mounts to the metal frame in the rear seat backs. This way if the rear tire is muddy it will fall on the rubber cargo liner.

I also did that but with a slight mod. I added a plastic strip on the bottom of the 2x6. I got it at Home Depot and it has plastic "hooks" that hold the 2x6 solidly in place on the carpet. Something like a non skid plastic. Found it on a roll in the store. I use it for either my road or mountain bike but have a quick disconnect to remove the seat.
