Traveling from NC to AZ this Summer

So I recently heard back from a company I applied for an internship for this coming summer. Its a paid internship with housing provided out in Mesa Arizona. I'm not allowed to reveal the company in question, but its a pretty large corporation. Anyhow I was planning on driving my 4runner out there from NC and was wondering if there are any particular things I should take care of and plan for before the trip. This will be the longest and furthest trip I have ever done alone and was wondering if anyone has pointers on a route, kinda would like to swing by Moab, Utah on the return trip or something aswell.

Again the trip is a ways from now, just trying to kinda get a list together and get the truck ready for a cross country roadtrip.

Flush all fluids, check/replace brakes and tires as needed, tune-up and replace all filters.

It's all common sense stuff.

whatever time you think you'll allow yourself, add at least 2 days to it. and don't be in a hurry. there's lots to see between you and AZ.

Im thinking about a weeks travel time and stopping in a few places along the way for sightseeing. Anyone thing the factory radiator will be sufficient or should I throw a bigger aftermarket in? I just don't want to be stranded out in the middle of nowhere. 4runner is a 89 V6 3.slow with a manual.

Moab is not directly en route between Mesa, AZ and NC, but it'd be worth a trip up north (and so would the Ouray and Telluride area of Colorado)

Oh ya I know its not directly on route. I just want a chance to see it once in my life haha. Have always lived on the East Coast, and wanna see whats out west a bit before I decide to settle down anywhere. One of the reasons for me to take this internship over a few others locally.

Thanks for the offer, ill keep ya in mind. I still don't have a set route yet, still planning stages so to say.
