TRD 4.0 V6 SuperChager

Got a early morning call from a friend at Toyota, said they just got the new product code for The TRD 4.0 V6 SuperCharger, he said it is slated to release later this month or in July.

Also said price will be around 4500.00 just for the supercharger itself, and you will have to also buy the install kit which is not included.

As of yet they have not gotten a kit product code for T4R's, but they do have one for the FJ's.

keep us posted!

I would LOVE to get an SC for my 03 LTD 4Runner... It has been so frustrating to own virtually the only Toyota engine that doesn't have an accompanying SC kit.

Now we just have to hope that it doesn't only work on the FJ-- like they changed that version of the engine slightly (beefed up the rods) so it can handle the SC... I'll keep my fingers crossed!

My buddy at toyota said it will work perfectly on both the T4R's and the TACO's. All we have to wait for is the release of the product code for the install kits for the T4R and TACO engines.
 
wowowowowow, is it really $4,500. What about if it were dealer-installed? How much would that cost?

AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'M SO EXCITED!!!! I've been waiting soooooooooooooooo long for this...good thing I have the Sport Edition with X-REAS suspension, that should help a lot. Man, I can't wait to hear that engine roar...I do a lot of highway driving, that should make for a lot of fun!

But I do have a question...how much does a TRD Supercharger generally affect the miles per gallon? Thanks!

my assumption would be something like as if your driving a V8.

Anyword from your buddy if the ('06-'07) 4.7 V8 is in the works too?!?!

I will ask him tomorrow, we suppose to meet up and discuss putting a lift on my T4R, since he has experience in lifts on his 06 TACO TRD.
 
YES YES YES!!! There is a TRD 4.0 supercharger.

I was at the Toyota Motorsports Technical Center in Torance a couple weeks ago and There was a guy who was there picking up something from TRD in a blue FJ.

When he pulled away and flored the throttle, I could hear the supercharger.

I am 100% this was a SC nois. i know what they sound like, trust me.

I think the FJ has an option for a 4.7L V8...so it might have been the supercharger for the V8. Are you sure it had a V6?
 
Talked to my friend at toyota today, he said he placed a order for the 4.0 v6 TRD SC and the next day the order was replied as Back Ordered.

He called over to TRD and they said they have prior orders from other dealerships to fill, so check with your local dealer they might have ordered one just to keep on display in the parts dept.

You might get lucky and they have one in stock.

For me I have to wait since my order which went with my friends both came back as back ordered status.

I just called my dealership and they have the Supercharger for $6,000. WOWOWOWOW, thats effing expensive. Apparently, they only have the fit kit for the FJ Cruiser...but he's callijng someone else and then he's going to call me back to let me know for sure. How much do fit kits generally cost??? How much would this all cost? Installation, fit kit, supercharger? That's a buttload of money. Is it possible that there will be online deals for cheaper? Or will that not happen for several years?

I'll keep you guys updated

If that is installed with the kit then maybe! But geez thats expensive! Might as well put a down payment on a v8 with the 6g's!
