TRD 4runner

hahaha now thats funny. i could never do this to someone tho...donno how some ppl can try to rip others off..not my style

The scary thing is, anyone that is not in the know, will believe that! Last weekend, some guy made a comment about my truck, while on a trail run, and said that my rig must have been worth a few extra bucks because of the TRD package I have! I told him the only thing TRD on my rig was the badging and the decals, and he and I had a good chuckle over it!

I did however, tell the group that the TRD stuff were E-Bay specials, and that by putting them on, I gained 10 extra HP! HA HA HA!:naughty:

Like the placement on the sticker but, if i by a two wheel drive and put a sticker on it will that make it wheel any better?

IMO the '99-'00 Highlander models were as close as Toyota got to offering a TRD 4Runner at least regarding the taller coils, hood scoop and those that included the rear diff lock and adding the Limited's wheels did make it one of the less common 4Runners.

At least he could have gotten the TRD sticker in a more factory looking location.

So what does a TRD model include then . . . I mean on the newer Toyota's that actually come with the TRD package? Whats the distinction between TRD and non-TRD?

to my knowledge, toyota did not offer a "TRD" package on the 4runner. what ronmadien said about the options made it seem like a TRD package with the extras tho

Toyota doesn't really offer a "TRD" 4runner, closest would be the Trail edition 5th gen.
On Tacomas, there is the TRD sport package and TRD off road package.
Both TRD packages give a better off road suspension.

Main differences:
The TRD sport package offers a sport hood and bilstein suspension.
The TRD off road package offers off road tuned bilstein suspension, bigger wheels and tires, and a rear locker.

I have a TRD Off Road Tacoma and it came with a rear diff lock, "off road tuned suspension" (at least that's what Toyota calls it), upgraded seats, a bigger cooling fan, and probably a few other small things that I'm forgetting. The TRD Sport Taco has the scooped hood, the upgraded seats, color matched mirrors, door handles, and rear bumper, a "sport tuned suspension" which includes a larger sway bar, and 17 inch wheels, but no diff lock on the sport models. They have other stuff too like the tow package but I think that it can be included even with a non TRD truck.

Love the guys spelling of suspension? Did anyone else catch that? Dead give away that this guy is a total jack@$$:wtf:

Lol i sent the guy a nice email telling him he was lying if he knew it or not and asked him to change his ad. No response 7 hours later lol guess the guys full of it

The Tacoma TRD Sport models also come with a limited slip diff instead of the locker AFAIK. And yes, there were never any TRD 4runners made. I think if Toyota ever were to make a TRD 4runner, they would have placed the decals where I put mine on the rear quarter panels (like the Tacos), not under the rear windows - that looks like a kid stuck them there.

wow now that is rare! a TRD 4runner... i bet there are all kinds of things wrong with it and this is his selling point to try and cover it up. Hopefully nobody buys into this. I think most people shopping for a runner would know their stuff.... hopefully...

If you compare the top right and bottom right photo, you will see that the TRD sticker is photo shopped onto the truck lol

He's so full of crap, i bet he doesn't even know what TRD stands for :D

Yeah no worries , i'm sorry that you got lied to it's pretty scummy when someone knowingly does that, alot of the guys on the forum are service writers for toyota's, experts really, but you should go ahead and call your dealer and ask if they ever made a 3 rd gen 4 runner trd, for peace of mind if nothing else.

If you have any questions feel free to join our board and ask away we all own the same truck more less and have been working on them for years, maybe help you fix a few things for cheap before you sell it.

Glad to help, and good luck with the sale.

Damn, that sucks for him. But still, where did the sticker go in the second picture?

The third pic is at a low angle so the light is probably just reflecting off it, which since the vehicle is white, just looks like nothing is there. This happens if there is any kind of sheen to the surface of the sticker.
