TRD CAI installed

I installed the TRD cold air intake a couple of days ago and got to test it's worth on a roadtrip down to Bristol for the night race in thunder valley. The SOUND IS AWESOME!!! The way the engine ROARS from 2500 rpm - WOT sounds fantastic. You can also feel a noticeable increase in engine response when you step on the throttle...now I've got a strong urge to install the matching exhaust and maybe a Y-pipe. Any MPG gain (1-2 hwy) is without a doubt negated by the need to stomp the throttle to hear the engine purr.

I'm with you in that I noticed a sizeable increase with my TRD CAI along with my DTLT's. Love the sound, definitely one of the loudest CAI I've had on a ride. Take the cover off and it's cool for a bit, but eventually you learn ya gotta keep in on to keep sane.

And now for the pictures...

Direct bolt-on, from what I remember you only need 10, 12 and 13mm sockets, a phillips screwdriver and teflon tape. The instructions did not match what was on my 08 exactly, but nothing major. It's a 2 hour job at most.

sweet! is there any benefit of getting this TRD CAI vs K&Ns version?
The TRD kit pulls cooler air from the passenger side fender, the K&N kit will pull the hot air from the engine bay. I've had good experiences with K&N kits in the past, but honestly I preferred the look of the TRD kit and that primarily made the decision for me.

Is the filter wet or dry type?

Thanks! I have shopped online for them and they are only listed as a V6 application. I must not be looking in the right spots...

The filter is a wet-type filter. And I don't know if TRD makes a CAI for V8s, but Volant does and it is very similar in setup to the TRD model. I believe several have installed the Volant one on V8s. A search of the forum may give you the answer your looking for.
