TRD CAI Rattles against fender

My dealer installed TRD CAI vibrates up against the inside of the fender well at and above 3k RPM.

Dealer said it was "normal". My friend driving next to me said it "sounded like an elephant sized vibrator".

The box has a fair amount of wiggle to it and with my hand I can roll it to the point where it bumps the fender.

How can I fix this?

Try to stuff some foam padding against the box that has a sticky side to it. Try and alleviate the rubbing going on from the shifting motor and harmonic vibes coming down the tube and rubbing the wall as well.

did the dealer install the rubber gasket on the CAI box that touches the inside fender? The rubber gasket should prevent any "elephant sized vibrator" sound and should be pressed up against the wall. if they did, they you might try and check the bolts holding down the box. my box has a little give front to back but only a little.

If those 2 things don't work then i would go with what Mike07SE says and use some additional weather stripping to minimize the contact.

you won't be able to fix it. it is the way the aftermarket intakes are design. the stock has acoustical baffles to quiet the reverb and the aftermarkets don't so they are hella loud and in some cases much louder then your exhaust. with the volant the entire right side of the truck vibrated. cool for awhile, sucked in the long run.

It's not that kind of vibration though. It's actually smacking against the body.

I can't hear it at all unless I get above 3k RPM and the thing starts to jack hammer into the fender well.

I FINALLY got his into the dealer. They found a couple screws had wobbled themselves out. It's better now but still hits the fender at very high RPM.
