Freshly Installed CAI - WOW!!!
I just installed this intake as well and I took a few before-and-after pics I thought you all may be interested in. Also, I figured I'd comment on the initial differences I noticed and I'll post the MPGs once I restrain myself from putting my foot in the gas.
I went out for the initial test drive and whewww, lemme tell ya, the tone is very surprising. I wasn't expecting to feel a significant boost in horsepower, so I'm not dissatisfied there, but I was hoping for a "tougher" growl under acceleration. Well, I got it. I can just about swear that my dash vibrates under heavy acceleration. It's a very throaty, deep, loud growl from the depths of the engine. I was verrrry suprised and I'm looking very much forward to the addition of headers (I'm going to experiment with JBA's '05 Tacoma headers) and some upgraded exhaust.
Note: if you keep your foot out of the gas, the sound is probably very close to OEM.
Note2: Until I got the package from UPS, I had no clue that this intake may or may not specify that it was for off-road use only. Well, that's what the box says...
I'd also like to mention a comparison of my V6 4Runner to my roomate's V8 Tahoe. He installed AEM's Brute Force intake a few months back. In my best estimate, the TRD intake I just installed is probably about two times louder than his on heavy acceleration.
Simply stated, I'm very impressed. If you want pics of something specific, shoot me an e-mail. Have a great day and NIKE.
