Who has added the TRD exhaust to their 3rd gen 4Runners?

Anyone have a link to see how it sounds with the 3.4L?

Anyone have any issues with their Runner throwing codes after the install? Other thoughts?

Thanks

Nice! I'm definitely thinkiing about adding one to mine. What kind of MPG increase are you getting? Did you get it installed at the stealership? Can you PM with what you paid w/ installation? Trying to figure out what's a fair price

Got mine installed for about $660, which was after a 15% DIY coupon that I used. Great product. It's a bit pricey, but I had no other option for a new exhaust system since no one around me really does custom jobs, and the 2 I did find were going to be about as much as the TRD system. So I just decided to bite the bullet and go the dealer installed route. It sounds really nice. Can't really tell how much the performance and MPG has changed, but I think it's mostly a seat of the pants difference. It maybe added a couple HP along with my deck plate. MPG has improved to maybe 10-15 more miles per tank. Good luck with your choice.

Check out my youtube page for exhaust clips:

what happened to all the DIY'ers? It's just a cat-back exhaust...super easy! do it yourself and save 600 bucks? I'm down.

On second thought, I'll install it for you for $500:thumb3:

There's nobody around you that can do simple welding? I can get a Magnaflow 24" with a nice tip welded up for under $400 installed at my local muffler shop and get the same results as the TRD exhaust and not pay a couple hundred for the TRD logo.

My exhaust guy that I have used for about 30 cars did my last truck for 180 with my choice of Dynomax or MagnaFlow. Of course you take your cars and all of your friends cars to him you get a slightly better deal. This is over about 15 years.

Terrapin, if you havent done it yet, do yourself a favor and install sirius and leave it tuned to channel 32. the sound of the exhaust with the boys in the background is great.

Not to sound spoiled, but my parents provide all monetary needs when it comes to vehicle necessities (repairs, maintenance and insurance) so I was fortunate enough to have my parents foot the bill when I needed a new exhaust system. I searched around for the best price on parts, including getting 2 reasonable quotes for custom installed ones. Those still came to upwards of $500 PLUS installation, and these were the reasonable quotes. Shops around my area take advantage of the wealth that's around, and also take advantage of the fact that people will shell out waaay more than they should for something as simple as an exhaust system. Unfortunately for them, I realize the crap that they are trying to pull when they quote me for a new system: "Well, you're going to need this, this, a new set of these... etc etc etc" when in reality I know I need none of the extra stuff they are trying to profit on and take advantage of my generous parents. After doing the research and showing what I had found to the "funds department", I found it best to just purchase the TRD system with a 15% coupon from the dealer I normally deal with, and ended up spending maybe $80 more than I would have for the OEM system.

Terrapin, glad I could supply some helpful resources. You'll be happy with the system, as long as you can get over people patronizing you for spending a fortune. Haha. :pimp:
