i have access to a wrecked 00 toacoma with the factory trd e locker. what would i need to swap this into my 87 runner. i have a lockrite in the rear as of now but want to put it in the front. any details will be very thankful.

I'm no expert on the older 4Runners but I really don't think it's possible or at least logical and I'm pretty sure there would be a good amount of fab work involved. Not worth the trouble. You could sell it and pay for a locker that will fit with the money.

With enough $$$ almost anything can be done.

Check over at Yota Tech, maybe someone there has done this swap.

for the swap you would be best to get the whole rear axle outta the tacoma and just put it in your runner. as for swaping the locker currently in your runner in the back to the front, it wont fit, unless you have SASd your runner. the thirds are differant sizes. you will have to wire the factory Elocker, but that shouldnt be too hard.

You can swap the whole diff into your 1st gen housing, providing the ratio is the same.
However the non-elocker Taco diff would not work, it has a larger ring gear.

You will have to rig up your own switch and wiring, but there is plenty of how-to info available.

Not exactly.
the rear housing has to be modified to fit the elocker. The info on how to do so us out there though.
Or modify the taco housing to fit the 4runner.
