I popped the front logo off because of the dimples within. I didn't want to fight with those coated in plasti-dip. Back logo and badges are mounted on smooth surfaces making it real easy to remove.

I took my badges off and put flat black decals on. As a detailer I hate polishing, claying and waxing around badges.

Sun or heat from blower and fishing string to cut through foam tape. Anything sticky leftover can be cleaned off with WD-40 then cleaned with soap and water. WD-40 works great for anything sticky like window decals, bumper stickers, tree sap on paint and even paint on hands to gum in hair.

Are the rear badges/emblems held on with double sided tape or what? How easy to get them back on?

I'm not sure, all I have on the rear is 4RUNNER and logo which I didn't remove to plasti-dip. I only removed the front logo with a plastic pry tool so not to scratch things up.

I started off heating them with a blow dryer and using floss to remove the "Off Road" emblems. Those were pretty easy and quick to do.

As for the "TRD" I heated them up and used a trim removal tool. It was taking forever with the floss and the trim tool made it a lot easier. Just need to be careful while using the tool.

The remaining tape residue was easy to clean off by hand if they're still warm. I cleaned up any remaining residue with some Goo Gone and cleaned it up with some soap/water.
 
I removed my OR badges after getting frustrated with the plasti dip. I just don't have the "skill" needed to dip stuff. Now my 4R looks like a Trail. Maybe I'll attempt to reattach the OR badges when this kit comes back in stock.

My Bilstein 6112/5160 setup is back ordered, the Gobi 20 week lead time is ridiculous, and now these overpriced overlays on back order? Guess I am way late to this Toyota party lol

I tried dipping my all my OR emblems and did not like it. I ended up taking them off and doing the Clorox de-chrome. Then paint and prime.
At the time, I could not justify the $150 price tag for overlays but in hindsight, I would have gladly paid.
- de chrome is a PIA
- getting the 3M double sided tape back on the emblems neatly is a bigger and major PIA
- getting the emblems centered back perfectly is another PIA

It currently looks great but start to finish I probably have 10+ hours in this little project over 1.5 weeks time.

I don't have the time or patience to stick the emblems back on. props to you. mine are sitting on my work bench, haha

They're not attached with run o' the mill double-sided tape apparently and heat really helps when you use fishing line or floss. Adhesive can be slowly "soaked" off with Goo Off Auto or other solvent. Chances are you'll benefit from some polishing after you get all the adhesive off the paint. My clear coat was scratched after the alleged "pros" did mine.

Not sure if this is true but it makes sense and this is what i was told: If you want to take the badges off it's best to do it sooner rather than later. My car is brand new and there was almost no ghosting but this will be an issue the longer they stay on before removal. If you try and take your badges off 3 years down the road chances are it's not going to look as good or be as easy as if you do it now. If the badges are on long enough it will be much more difficult to get a perfect result especially with metallic paint. Longer term the adhesive touching the paint just becomes part of the paint to an extent from what I gather.

I'm thanking the stars I chose Super White which really hides a lot that darker metallic would not.

There are some good tutorials about badge removal and wish I'd just bitten the bullet and did it myself.

I just pulled them off with my fingers. It was only a month or two old so they came off easily. I've used the fishing line trick before with success. Just buff the area after removing.
 
2018 TRD Off Road overlay

I have searched high and low for the part # for the overlay kit for 2018 TRD Off Road. Anyone know the part # or aftermarket site that has them in stock? I would try other methods previously mentioned, however this would be quicker and easier or me. Thanks in advance.
 
I have the SR5 side badges left over from my blackout kit, I didn't need them since I have a TRD Pro. Anyone that wants them is welcome to them for $10 via PayPal FF/Gift. I hate even charging for them, but I need to cover shipping.
 
Is there a stick-on that blacks out the entire chrome piece on the trunk? I'm talking about the lettering that says "4RUNNER" and the surrounding chrome shroud.
