TRD PRO Roof Rack question

solid point, it seemed like these bars were way closer even after setting as far apart as possible. a little creativity today got them as far to front and back as possible, so I think transporting my paddle boards should not prove difficult at this point.

I had similar rack on my 2008 FJ cruiser and used it to carry canoes and kayaks across the country, used Thule square bars old school. I hoe to do the same with my 5ht gen 4runner, the rack is shorter and situated a little farther aft on the vehicle, but looks like it will work. Good luck and I'll try to post pictures with new canoe racks once installed/ done/ loaded

I removed the buttons and put some gorilla tape over the holes, then put the rack over that. it seems perfect. I also think designers sometimes dont leave their desk to create for the real world.

That’s my understanding of their purpose too, but I don’t get the reasoning. What difference does it make how far forward the bars are? They’re not going to slide off the from of the rack due to the way the front side tubes bend down. The ability to put the front crossbars 2-3 more inches forward would be really helpful.

Very clever mount! I drilled my crossbars to mount my Maxtrax. May do your setup for the jack too. Thanks!

Here’s what I made. 3.5” long 1/2” stainless bolts and stainless hardware. Also used a sleeve spacer they I sprayed black. The jack sits perfectly level, doesn’t rattle, can’t get stolen, and can be removed in about 1 minute.
